Godfrey Manoharan lærer bort tamilske kokkekunster gjennom felles matlaging inspirert av matkultur og måltider i dravidiske templer på Sri Lanka. Sammen med deltakerne vil Manoharan guide og lage mat med direkte tilknytning til tamilske hjem i Tamil Eelam og Norge. Målet er å lage maten, servere maten og spise maten før filmvisning samme dag, sammen.

Matservering + Filmvisning av Mudhulvan fra 1999 på Verdens ende
En mann aksepterer en utfordring om å fungere som statsminister i delstaten Tamil Nadu for kun en dag. Han utfører oppgaven nesten for godt for sitt eget beste, og vikles inn i nye politiske intriger.
Tamilske retter fra matworkshop med Godfrey Manoharen serveres også til publikum før filmen.

Godfrey Manoharan teaches Tamil food-artistry in a joint cooking session inspired by food culture and meals within Dravidian temples in Sri Lanka. Together with the participants Manoharan will guide and cook food with a direct link to Tamil homes in Tamil Eelam and Norway, where the goal is to cook the food, serve the food and eat the food before the film screening the same day, together.

Tamil dishes from the food workshop with Godfrey Manoharan will be served to the audience before screening the film.

Gjennom utstillingsperioden viser vi tamilske filmer ukentlig i lyd- og videoinstallasjonen Verdens ende på Kurant. Filmene vil bli vist uten undertekster, og filmopplevelsen gjenspeiler den erfaringen mange har hatt med tamilsk film gjennom en oppvekst i diasporaen. Om man ikke behersker språket, må man lese filmene på en annen måte, tolke dem gjennom det reint audiovisuelle.

Throughout the exhibition period we will screen Tamil movies in the sound and video installation The End of the World at Kurant. The movies will be shown without subtitles, and as such the viewing experience will reflect the experience of watching Tamil-language films growing up in the diaspora. If one doesn’t have the language, films must be read and understood differently, through an immersion in audiovisual storytelling techniques.
